Accessibility statement
Anyone should be able to read about a job at Berlitz and apply for it. This page says how close we are, and what to do when we fall short.
Last updated 31 July 2026
Our commitment
Berlitz is committed to making this site accessible to all of our users. We embed accessibility through design, development, and regular testing. Accessibility takes ongoing effort, and we keep refining how we work to provide inclusive experiences for our candidates, employees, clients, and their employees.
We build this site to work with screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, magnification, and high contrast settings. We treat an accessibility barrier as a defect and fix it, and we would rather hear about one than not know.
The standard we aim for
We target WCAG 2.2 level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. In Europe we work to EN 301 549, which builds on those guidelines and carries the requirements of the European Accessibility Act.
Berlitz targets WCAG 2.1 level AA across berlitz.com. Version 2.2 includes everything in 2.1, so this site meets that commitment too.
How we are doing
This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the level AA success criteria, and some parts do not yet. We assessed it on 31 July 2026 and we are working through the detail.
That covers the pages published at berlitz.careers. It does not extend to the application form, which Berlitz does not host. The next section explains where the boundary sits.
What we have built in
- Every page starts with a skip link to the main content.
- Headings run in order, so a screen reader can move through the page by structure.
- Text and background colors meet the AA contrast ratio, and we darkened the brand blue to get there.
- Every control shows a visible focus outline when you reach it with the keyboard.
- Images carry alternative text, and decorative graphics stay hidden from assistive technology.
- Text reflows to 320 pixels wide, and you can zoom to 200 percent without losing content.
- The page respects a reduced motion setting and turns off transitions.
- Nothing relies on color alone to carry meaning.
Where this statement stops
Two boundaries are worth stating plainly.
- The open roles list pulls live data from our applicant tracking system into markup we control. If that request fails, the section falls back to a plain link.
- The application form sits on Ashby, and this statement does not cover it. Candidates can complete that journey, but we do not control the code behind it and we do not certify another company's product here.
The photographs carry short alternative text identifying them as colleagues at work rather than describing each person, which is the right level of detail for imagery that sets tone rather than carrying information.
Job descriptions are HTML throughout. We attach no PDFs, so none of the usual untagged-document problems apply.
Where a barrier turns up in a third-party system, we raise it with the vendor and we offer another way to apply in the meantime. Section applying if this site does not work for you gives you that route today.
Applying if this site does not work for you
Do not let a barrier here cost you a job. Contact us and we will take your application another way, by email, by phone, or in whatever format suits you.
We also adjust the interview process. That includes extra time, a different format, breaks, questions in advance, captions or an interpreter, and accessible interview locations. Ask for what you need, and you do not owe us a diagnosis or medical evidence to ask.
Our Equal opportunity statement explains how we handle these requests, and section 5 of our Candidate privacy notice explains what we do with the information.
Telling us about a problem
If you hit an accessibility issue, have a question about any page here, or have feedback on accessibility, email privacy@berlitz.com and we will be happy to help. Tell us the page, what you tried to do, what happened, and the browser or assistive technology you use, as far as you can.
We reply within five working days. If a fix takes longer, we tell you what we are doing and when we expect to finish, and we offer a way around it while you wait.
You can also reach us by phone on +1 609 497-6571, or in Europe on +49 (0)69 666 08 90.
Technical detail
This site relies on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The roles list uses JavaScript to fetch current openings, and it falls back to a direct link to our job board when that request fails.
We test with current versions of the major desktop and mobile browsers, using a keyboard alone and with a screen reader.
How we assessed the site
Berlitz assessed this site itself on 31 July 2026. No external firm audited it.
Our approach combines an automated scan for the mechanical failures, a manual keyboard and screen reader pass for the rest, and a check of contrast, zoom, and reflow.
If we do not resolve it
Tell us first, because we would rather fix it. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can escalate:
- Germany: the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency (Antidiskriminierungsstelle des Bundes). The conciliation body under the Disability Equality Act handles complaints against public bodies rather than private companies, so it does not apply to us.
- United Kingdom: the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
- United States: the Department of Justice, under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Elsewhere in the EU: the enforcement body your member state names under the European Accessibility Act.
Keeping this page true
Andy Lobban owns this statement. We review it whenever we change the site enough to affect it, and on a set date regardless. The next review is due 31 January 2027.
